MADHUBANI ART
Also known as Mithila Painting dates back more than 2500 years,originated in the mithila region of Bihar,India.
King janak asked artists to capture the wedding of his daughter Sita and prince Ram , then the entire kingdom was first time covered in madhubani art.
Common themes include fish,peacock,birds,animals, turtles,sun,moon,bamboo tree,lotus etc.Its geometric patterns are symbol of love,bravery,devotion,fertility and prosperity.
KALAMKARI ART
Originated in the modern day state of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana over a 100 years ago.It was firstly used as decorative backdrops in temples Main motifs drawn are tree of life with animals and birds and indian deities.
PICHWAI ART
Also known as Miniature painting originated in the town Nathdwara ,Rajasthan,India pichwai dates back over 400 years ago.Painting was hung behind the idol of shreenathji(local form of krishna)which was used as a backdrop in temples.Paintings mainly depicts scenes from the life of lord krishna ,his childhood,youth and adulthood,radha,gopi,cow,animals and birds.
WARLI ART
Created by the tribal people from the Sahyadri range,Maharashtra,India dates back around 3000B.C. Warli culture is centered n the concept of Mother Nature and wildlife.It depicts scenes of hunting,fishing ,farming,trees and animals in which people and animalsn are represented byb two inverse triangle joined at the tip which symbolizes balance of the universe.
